Recognizing the importance of flexible, accessible, and self-paced learning, the institution has actively encouraged students to enroll in online courses offered through SWAYAM, NPTEL, and other recognized MOOC platforms as part of their curriculum.

Over the last three academic years, the institute has officially incorporated 36 online courses from the SWAYAM/NPTEL platform in the program offered by the institution in the curriculum. These courses are offered to students as part of a blended learning model, wherein online content delivery is supplemented by offline mentoring, peer discussions, and faculty facilitation.

Institutional Quality Circles and Governance Mechanism

The integration of Online and Blended Learning into the academic framework at Idyllic Institute of Management is governed by a well-defined institutional quality circles that emphasizes academic quality, learner engagement, and seamless creditization. This process has been formally reviewed and approved by the Academic Council, ensuring its academic rigor and alignment with regulatory norms prescribed by UGC and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

This strategic initiative aims to blend conventional classroom learning with the flexibility and accessibility of online education platforms like SWAYAM and NPTEL, enabling students to take ownership of their learning process and explore knowledge beyond the prescribed syllabus.

The Quality Circle outlines the following key components and implementation practices:

  1. Identification of Relevant Online Courses

Each academic department undertakes a systematic review and mapping of courses available on SWAYAM/NPTEL. Faculty members evaluate courses based on:

  • Course relevance to the existing syllabus and program outcomes (POs).
  • Academic quality, structure, and delivery by reputed institutions such as IITs, IIMs, and central universities.
  • Inclusion of current trends, case studies, and real-world applications.
  • Assessment mechanisms and learning support features (assignments, discussion forums, etc.).
  1. Curriculum Creditization Framework

The institution follows a clearly defined credit equivalency system for integrating online courses into the regular curriculum. The credit allocation is as follows:

  • 4-Week Courses – Assigned 1 Credit
  • 8-Week Courses – Assigned 2 Credits
  • 12-Week Courses – Assigned 3 Credits

This standardization ensures academic uniformity and helps students plan their credit requirements efficiently. These credits are counted toward the student’s total semester credit load and are documented in their grade sheets.

Students may choose these courses as core/elective components or as value-added/self-learning courses, depending on their relevance and level.

  1. Academic Mentorship and Student Support

To facilitate smooth adoption and successful completion of online courses, faculty members are designated as academic mentors for each enrolled batch. These mentors play a crucial role in:

  • Guiding students on course selection based on their interests, academic goals, and skill gaps.
  • Scheduling regular touch points to track student progress and provide motivational support.
  • Conducting doubt-clearing sessions and facilitating discussions to bridge conceptual gaps.
  • Encouraging the submission of reflective journals, presentations, or short reports to consolidate learning.

This hybrid support system enhances student engagement and ensures that online learning is not an isolated process, but is embedded in an interactive academic environment.

  1. Evaluation, Certification, and Quality Assurance

Upon completion of the selected course, students must submit the official Certificate of Completion issued by the SWAYAM/NPTEL platform. The institute conducts additional academic assessments where necessary, which may include:

  • Internal quizzes or assignments based on the course content.
  • Presentations or peer reviews to evaluate comprehension and critical thinking.
  • Viva voce or open-book assessments conducted by the faculty mentors.

This multi-pronged evaluation mechanism ensures not just course completion, but meaningful learning and internalization of knowledge.

Students scoring 60% and above in NPTEL’s final assessment and fulfilling internal evaluation criteria are awarded credits that contribute to their semester performance.

  1. Academic Recognition and Transcript Inclusion

Successfully completed and approved online courses are formally recognized and reflected in:

  • Academic Bank of Credit.
  • Final Mark sheet Summary, showing earned credits and grades achieved issued by SWAYAM.
  1. Monitoring and Continuous Review

The implementation of online and blended learning is overseen by the faculty coordinators and members of the IQAC. Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing enrolment trends and completion rates every semester.
  • Updating the approved course list in alignment with new offerings and industry trends.
  • Conducting faculty orientation programs to build institutional capacity in blended pedagogy.
